Zvolen is a town found in the central regions of Slovakia, and it is spotted at the meeting point of Slatina and Hron Rivers.

Enjoying a close proximity with that of Banska Bystrica, Zvolen takes pride in the ancient castle as it is also a historic center representing the seat pertaining to okres. Inhabited since the time of Paleolithic age, Zvolen was built as a town after the erection of the castle here. In the 1230s, it became one of the earliest towns recognized by Kingdom of Hungary.

Zvolen has its fair share of attractions as the castle Old Zvolen that has been referred to as the Deserted Castle since the 19th century is a significant attraction unveiled by the town. The preserved castle ruins found in the surroundings of the town forest park is a frequently visited zone that offers relaxation to the visitors. The Gothic castle of the Zvolen Castle situated on the hilltop pertaining to the southern portions of the square is yet another beauty, which presently is held as a seat related to the Slovak National Gallery.

The dominant historic building of St. Elizabeth’s Church that takes us back to the 13th century and the Evangelical Church of the St. Trinity that has been rebuilt along the lines of Neogothic style are other attractions at Zvolen. Also, the northern sections of the SNP square that unveil the Finko curio or the mansion house is yet another historical delight at Zvolen.
