After taking over the reins of the castle in 1524, the Thurzo family has been instrumental in the reconstruction process. After the siege in 1710, which had been a part pertaining to the suppression concerning the anti-Habsburg uprising, the Tematín Castle got converted into ruins.

Tematín Castle along with the Castles related to Beckov and Cachtice had played an important role in the visual contact in being a significant signaling point. The Tematín Castle during the fourteenth century encompassed an area pertaining to the upper castle that in turn unveiled a fortified palace and four corner towers. When the Bescenyi family took control over this castle in the 17th century, the defense system got strengthened, as a narrow passage separated the lower courtyards from that of the upper part related to the castle as the two bastions had guarded the entrance during that period. Today, this area has attracted the attention of archaeological researchers as castle preservation is also taken up as a significant step to make it attractive for the visitors.
