Podbiel

The village of Podbiel is a part of the Zilina region found in the northern regions of Slovakia. The first mention of Podbiel dates back to the year 1564. This village is known for the traditional wooden cottages, as the cottages also falls within the folk architecture preservation area. There are about 64 wooden houses that were erected in the 19th century that happen to be one of the prime attractions at Podbiel.

Towering above the village are the two rocky cliffs, as the white Rock happens to be an ancient fort and the Red Rocks is another of the rocky cliffs, which happens to be the place where traces of Stone Age Settlement had been found.

The woods surrounding Podbiel happen to be an idyllic spot to wander as visitors can also find places to relax. Visitors can come by many medicinal plants as well as raspberries, blueberries and hazelnuts among the other varieties here.
