Medzilaborce

Medzilaborce is a town belonging to the northeastern region of Slovakia, as it shares a close proximity with that of the border pertaining to Poland. Medzilaborce also lies close to the towns of Bukowsko and Sanok. The earliest written record related to Medzilaborce takes us back to the year 1543, and the Drugeth family initially owned this village. Later, in the 17th century, Medzilaborce fell under the influence of Csaky family and it got converted to that of Andrassy family manor during the 19th century.

Medzilaborce is the proud host of Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art, which houses many artworks as well as effects pertaining to Andy Warhol as well as the works belonging to his brother John, as it had got initiated in the year 1991. Visitors can come across many personal items that had been donated to this museum by Warhol’s relatives. At Medzilaborce, there are historical memorials of the past, as there is a memorial standing in remembrance of the fallen soldiers of World War I, as there is also a Memorial that stands in remembrance of the Holocaust victims.

Medzilaborce also offers other opportunities for the tourists as the Cerkev Holy Spirit that stands on a hill found nearby, the Brod Monastery dating back to the 14th century and the Lupkow tunnel monument spotted in Kalinovo are some of the attractions that demand a visit.
